Although he dabbled in photography in the late 1970s, it quickly became apparent that film and processing made an expensive hobby, and his Canon AT1 sat on the shelf for two decades. Don spent over twenty-five years in the information technology industry, nine years as an entrepreneur and over thirteen years in higher education. In the early 2010s, as an accidental outcome of some workplace training, his interest in photography was rekindled and he purchased a Nikon D5100. Shortly after moving to southeastern Iowa after almost forty years living in the Kansas City area, Don found himself in the middle of a project to photograph wildflowers at Geode State Park, a twenty-minute drive from his house. With little formal photography or botany training, he spent over six years learning, reading, and hiking through nature, photography, and botany to put this book together and finding some rare flowers for SE Iowa along the way.","brand":"Lanceleaf Press","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":50862102577426,"sku":"9781736650219","price":85.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0831\/4771\/8930\/files\/img_a391c546-3f96-4da6-8a48-4598dbd5d073.jpg?v=1737613074","url":"https:\/\/surprise-castle.myshopify.com\/products\/wildflowers-of-southeastern-iowa-volume-2-summer-fall-9781736650219","provider":"Surprise Castle","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
