He wrote a number of articles for the \u003ci\u003eZeitung\u003c\/i\u003e on topics ranging from plants, climate, and agriculture to Texas Indian affairs, optimism, and teaching schoolchildren.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIn the last year of Lindheimer's life, one of his students worked with him to collect an assortment of his essays and articles from the \u003ci\u003eZeitung\u003c\/i\u003e. In 1879, the collection was published as \u003ci\u003eAufsätze und Abhandlungen von Ferdinand Lindheimer in Texas\u003c\/i\u003e (\u003ci\u003eEssays and Articles of Ferdinand Lindheimer in Texas\u003c\/i\u003e).\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eJohn E.
