Education-wise, Kathy attended Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, focusing on literature and theater; graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Nursing with a BSN; and received a JD from William Mitchell College of Law. She has enjoyed writing all her life, has worked as a registered nurse, and has stayed out of court as much as possible. Although a Minnesotan at heart, Kathy has lived in Michigan's Upper Peninsula since 2002, where she shares a home with beings of human, canine, feline and avian persuasions. The Morris Canoe is Kathy's sixth published book and first attempt at non-fiction. Aside from writing, her passions include history, genealogy, Nature, animals, books, movies, making YouTube videos, and paddling wooden canoes.
