Following the war, Musil returned to a literary career in Vienna and Berlin, during which time he was nominated for the Nobel Prize. He was the author of \u003ci\u003eFive Women, The Posthumous Papers of a Living Author, \u003c\/i\u003e and \u003ci\u003eThe Confusions of Young Torless\u003c\/i\u003e. His works were banned by the Nazis, and he and his Jewish wife went into exile during World War II. He died of a stroke in 1942.
