Her work appears in the anthology \u003cem\u003eThe Wind Shifts: New Latino Poetry\u003c\/em\u003e (University of Arizona Press, 2007), and in journals such as \u003cem\u003eMandorla\u003c\/em\u003e, CHAIN, \u003cem\u003eBarrow Street\u003c\/em\u003e, \u003cem\u003eTarpaulin Sky\u003c\/em\u003e, and \u003cem\u003eThe Brooklyn Rail\u003c\/em\u003e. Alcalá has also translated poetry by Cecilia Vicuña, Lourdes Vázquez, and Lila Zemborain, among others. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Brown University, and a PhD in English from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
