The book examined \u003ci\u003eTimes\u003c\/i\u003e' publisher Otis Chandler's growing collection of muscle cars. \u003ci\u003eAmerican Muscle\u003c\/i\u003e, published in September 1990, jump-started a love of book creation that ultimately led Leffingwell to leave the\u003ci\u003e Times\u003c\/i\u003e in 1995.
