Hersholt's most famous acting roles were as Shirley Temple's grandfather in the film \u003cem\u003eHeidi\u003c\/em\u003e (1937) and on the popular radio show \u003cem\u003eDr. Christian \u003c\/em\u003e(1937-1954).
