He studied in Berlin and Vienna and was first known as a poet and translator, then as a biographer. Between the wars, Zweig was an international bestseller with a string of hugely popular novellas including \u003ci\u003eLetter from an Unknown Woman\u003c\/i\u003e, \u003ci\u003e Amok\u003c\/i\u003e and\u003ci\u003e Fear\u003c\/i\u003e.
