After chasing a cure in three different states, their daughter was cured from Sickle Cell Disease through a bone marrow transplant, becoming the first child to receive a bone marrow transplant for homozygous sickle cell disease SS at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne Australia. Agnes is also the founder of Amplify Sickle Cell Voices International Inc, a not-for-profit organisation whose aim is to empower people impacted by sickle cell disease globally by using their voice to normalise sickle cell disease discussions.
