His research and teaching lie at the intersection of critical theory, aesthetics, and film studies, with a focus on the history of film theory. He is the co-editor of \u003ci\u003eMemory Bytes: History, Technology, and Digital Culture\u003c\/i\u003e (Duke University Press, 2004). His recent articles can be found in journals such as \u003ci\u003eNovel, Polygraph, World Picture, Paragraph\u003c\/i\u003e, and \u003ci\u003eScreen\u003c\/i\u003e, as well as in edited collections on the work of Sergei Eisenstein and Jacques Rancière. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eTomás Jirsa is Associate Professor of Literary Studies at Palacký University Olomouc, where he directs the PhD Program in Film, Television and Theatre Studies. Interested in relations between literature and the visual arts, affect theory, and music video studies, his most recent publications include \u003ci\u003eDisformations: Affects, Media, Literature\u003c\/i\u003e (Bloomsbury, 2021) and \u003ci\u003eHow to Do Things with Affects: Affective Triggers in Aesthetic Forms and Cultural Practices\u003c\/i\u003e (Brill, 2019), co-edited with Ernst van Alphen.
