Later, when he was in practice, he developed a particular dedication to the treatment of babies and children after successfully treating his baby son, who had projectile vomiting. Witnessing the success of osteopathic care in young patients is, for Maxwell, an ongoing source of wonder at the strength of the response that can be achieved with osteopathy. He has been on a continuing journey of discovery into the benefits of osteopathic treatment throughout his long career.Maxwell trained at the British School of Osteopathy and subsequently joined its Board of Governors. His previous studies include a Bachelor of Science from Melbourne University, where he majored in psychology and human movement, and a Diploma of Education. Michael has been in general osteopathic practice for 32 years. In 2005, Michael began his deeply impactful studies with the anatomist-embryologist Dr Brian Freeman. He later went on to organise and teach international seminars on the biodynamic approach to embryology.Michael has been involved in undergraduate teaching in the university setting and at the Osteopathic Summer School held by the Australian Research College of Osteopathic Medicine, an educational organization.
