He was educated at Shrewsbury school, and then at the universities of Edinburgh and Cambridge, where he developed his interest in natural history. Between 1831 and 1836, he was naturalist on board the ship H.M.S. Beagle, a time crucial to the development of his theory of evolution. The Zoology of the Voyage of H.M.S. Beagle was published in parts between 1838 and 1843, and \u003ci\u003eOn the Origin of Species\u003c\/i\u003e was first published in 1858. Darwin married his cousin Emma Wedgwood in 1839 and they had 10 children.
