He specializes in Hawaiian healing therapy and has a Bachelor of Science in human biology and a Doctor of Chiropractic. In 2005 he received the Kaonohi Award for community support and Hawaiian medicine. He was one of the original crewmembers of the Hokule'a double-hull canoe that sailed roundtrip from Hawaii to Tahiti in 1976.
