He was promoted to Major and Lt. Colonel, retiring in 1999. He has been an active member and past president of the Massachusetts State Police Museum and Learning Center. This is his sixth book on the history of the state police, and he has published two coffee-table books, the award-winning The Islands of Winnipesaukee and The Islands of Squam Lake.
