As a student and assistant, he initially focused on mastering the techniques of the European tradition. In 2019, Monica collaborated with The Floating Museum's \"Founders\" project, where contributed artwork and served as the model for Kitihawa, a Potawatomi woman and underrepresented founder of Chicago.
