In 1953 he moved to Memphis, where he lived for the remainder of his life.Foote was the author of six novels: \u003cb\u003eTournament\u003c\/b\u003e, \u003cb\u003eFollow Me Down\u003c\/b\u003e, \u003cb\u003eLove in a Dry Season\u003c\/b\u003e, \u003cb\u003eShiloh\u003c\/b\u003e, \u003cb\u003eJordan County\u003c\/b\u003e, and \u003cb\u003eSeptember, September\u003c\/b\u003e. He is best remembered for his 3-volume history \u003cb\u003eThe Civil War: A Narrative\u003c\/b\u003e, which took twenty years to complete and resulted in his being a featured expert in Ken Burns' acclaimed Civil War documentary.
