Authored by Meenakshi Mukerji, winner of Origami USA's 2005 Florence Temko Award, this book presents over a dozen proven favorite models with clear, detailed diagrams requested by origami enthusiasts worldwide.

What You'll Learn

The book provides step-by-step instructions for folding modular origami models based on polyhedra. Each model combines mathematical precision with artistic beauty, transforming ordinary paper into complex geometric structures. The diagrams guide you through the folding process, making even intricate designs accessible to dedicated folders.

Perfect for Multiple Interests

This book appeals to anyone interested in origami, polyhedra, symmetry, geometry, and mathematics. The models demonstrate polyhedral symmetry through hands-on assembly, making abstract mathematical concepts tangible. You'll learn about geometric principles while creating beautiful paper sculptures.

Award-Winning Author

Meenakshi Mukerji received recognition from Origami USA for generously sharing her work through her popular website www.origamee.net. Her previous books—Marvelous Modular Origami (2007), Ornamental Origami: Exploring 3D Geometric Designs (2009), and Origami Inspirations (2010)—have earned praise from origami masters and mathematical communities alike.

Robert Lang, world-leading origami artist, notes: "Meenakshi's work is both intricate and lovely. She's greatly respected in the origami world, one of the well-known world leaders in modular origami. Her books offer a nice exposition of the mathematical elements, but you're not being hit over the head with math lessons."

Educational Value

The book builds complex results from simple modules, making it suitable for school teaching and mathematics clubs. According to The London Mathematical Society Newsletter, it "brings out the symmetry in subtle ways" and helps even beginners learn about polyhedral symmetry through assembly.

What's Inside

Expect hours of enjoyment folding the featured models. The book includes colorfully illustrated diagrams showing how to construct three-dimensional figures. Each project has been tested and refined based on feedback from the origami community. The clear instructions and beautiful photographs make the folding process straightforward and rewarding.

About the Author

Meenakshi Mukerji (Adhikari) was introduced to origami in early childhood by her uncle Bireshwar Mukhopadhyay. She rediscovered origami in its modular form as an adult quite by chance in 1995, when she was living in Pittsburgh, PA. She attended a modular origami class taught by Doug Philips and ever since she has been folding modular origami and displaying it on her very popular website www.origamee.net. In 2005, Origami USA presented her with the Florence Temko award for generously sharing her origami work on her website. In April 2007, A K Peters published her first book, Marvelous Modular Origami, soon followed by her books Ornamental Origami: Exploring 3D Geometric Designs and Origami Inspirations. She has been a featured artist and a special guest at various origami conventions both in the US and abroad. Meenakshi was born and raised in Kolkata, India. She obtained her BS in electrical engineering at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and then came to the United States to pursue a master's degree in computer science at Portland State University, Oregon. After successful completion of her studies, she joined the software industry and worked for more than a decade. She is now at home in California with her husband and two sons to enrich their lives, to create her own origami designs, and to author origami books. People who have provided her with much origami inspiration and encouragement are Rosalinda Sanchez, David Petty, Francis Ow, Rona Gurkewitz, Robert Lang, Rachel Katz, Ravi Apte, and the numerous visitors of her website.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0831/4771/8930/files/img_6ec14226-0390-445d-811a-3968fa107079.jpg?v=1733946369
