At NYU, he developed the health program capstone course and the executive master of public administration program for nurse leaders. He has written or edited 11 books and more than 90 peer-reviewed articles, many of them case studies. Kovner has been a senior manager of two hospitals, a nursing home, a group practice, and a neighborhood health center, as well as a senior healthcare consultant for a large industrial union.
