In 1989, he penciled the first five issues (the \"Preludes \u0026amp; Nocturnes\" story arc) of writer Neil Gaiman's celebrated series \u003ci\u003eThe Sandman\u003c\/i\u003e and collaborated with Alan Grant on a Penguin story in \u003ci\u003eSecret Origins Special\u003c\/i\u003e #1.
