Originally from Coast Miwok land in the San Francisco Bay Area, she received an M.A. in Scandinavian Studies with a focus on Sámi from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and B.A.s in Scandinavian Studies and English Literature from the University of California-Berkeley. One of her main goals as a translator is to bring more Sámi voices to a wider English-speaking audience.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eLea Simma\u003c\/strong\u003e was born in 1989 and was raised in the Lávnnjitvuopmi Sámi reindeer herding area. She now lives in Dálvvadis\/Jokkmokk. She has always advocated for Sámi rights and has been active in Sámi organizations both nationally and internationally. She has translated texts, books, films and television shows.
