This is the story of a great city; a story of past deeds, present problems, and future hopes. Woodford, a native of Detroit, was born in 1903 and died in 1967. He graduated from Hillsdale College in 1923 and earned a B.S. degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1925. In 1931 Frank B. Woodford joined the staff of the Detroit Free Press, which he served in various capacities for over thirty years. He was the author or co-author of numerous books, including \u003ci\u003eLewis Cass, the Last Jeffersonian\u003c\/i\u003e (1950), \u003ci\u003eMr. Jefferson's Disciple, a Life of Justice Woodward\u003c\/i\u003e (1953), \u003ci\u003eParnassus on Main Street, a History of the Detroit Public Library \u003c\/i\u003e(1965), \u003ci\u003eGabriel Richard, Frontier Ambassador\u003c\/i\u003e (1958), and \u003ci\u003eHarper of Detroit, the Origin and Growth of a Great Metropolitan Hospital\u003c\/i\u003e (1964). \u003ci\u003eAll Our Yesterdays\u003c\/i\u003e, his final work, a fitting tribute to Mr. Woodford's appointment as City Historiographer of the City of Detroit, was virtually ready for the press at the time of his death. Arthur M. Woodford, also a native of Detroit, was born in 1940. He was educated at the University of Wisconsin, Wayne State University, and the University of Michigan, from which he received his master of library science degree. Mr. Woodford is Assistant to the Personnel Director of the Detroit Public Library.
